What is the difference between a contributor and an owned LivePlan account?
Each owned or paid LivePlan account is a container for companies. Each owned LivePlan account has one account owner who functions as the administrator for the account and all the companies contained within it. Contributors are users who have been invited to an owned LivePlan account by the account owner or an authorized contributor. An account owner can be invited as a contributor to another owned account while retaining access to their account. In the case of a contributor without an owned account, a contributor invitation creates a free user-only account for that user.
The diagram below outlines some examples of contributor access: In this diagram, we have five users in total. Two account owners with 3 companies between their two accounts, as well as three contributors without their own paid accounts.
Let's review who has access to which company.
-
Account Owner 1
-
- Account Owner 1 has access to Company A and Company B: The two companies contained in their own paid LivePlan account.
-
-
Account Owner 2
-
- Account Owner 2 has access to Company C: The company contained in their own paid LivePlan account. They also have access to Company A, via a contributor invite from Account Owner 1.
-
-
Contributor 1
-
- Contributor 1 has access to Company B, via a contributor invite from Account Owner 1.
-
-
Contributor 2
-
- Contributor 2 has access to Company B, via a contributor invite from Account Owner 1. They also have access to Company C, via a contributor invite from Account Owner 2.
-
-
Contributor 3
-
- Contributor 3 does not have an active a contributor invite from either Account Owner 1 or Account Owner 2. Therefore, they do not have access to any companies. This will only occur if a contributor is invited and then later removed by the account owner.

My signup code isn't working
If the signup code you've received from your organization is not working, please take the following steps to ensure your signup is completed with the correct discount.
- If your organization provided you with an access code in the form of a URL signup link, make sure that you're only inputting the unique code itself and not the full URL address into the Access Code field.
- Clear your browser cache and cookies: Sometimes a previously cached browsing session and related cookies can accidentally override your signup code with a non-discounted signup rate.
Note: If neither of these steps are successful, please and our expert Customer Advocacy Team can help you create your account with your discounted code.
I created my account. Why can't I see my plan when I log in?
If you've successfully created your new LivePlan account, but have not finished transferring your plan into your new account, please follow the steps in this link to start the transfer process: Transferring your plan into your new LivePlan account
While the plan transfer process is pending, or if your plan has already been transferred, you will want to ensure you're in the correct account clicking on the Switch Accounts option in your account management menu.
If you already started a new company in your new account, you can get to the Switch Accounts menu by clicking the profile button in the lower righthand corner of of your selecting Switch accounts
If you see in the Switch Account screen that you've been removed from the organization account, you will need to reach out to the organization you were working with and ask them to temporarily add you as a contributor again so the plan transfer process can be initiated.
Note: If you created a new LivePlan account using a different email than the email you used as a contributor pass with organization, you will need to reach out to the organization to request that they temporarily add this new email in order to initiate a plan transfer.
