LivePlan can associate an email address with only one account at a time. So what happens if a colleague has already issued you a contributor or guest pass to their company, but then you want to use the same email address to create your own LivePlan account?
Converting your contributor or guest access to your own account
-
Sign in to LivePlan using the email address and password that you use to sign in as a contributor or guest.
- In the lower-left corner of the page, click on the Account Profile icon.
- Select Switch Accounts.
- Once you're on the My Account page, click Create a New Account
- Enter your payment details and then click the Sign up button to create your account:
Note: Apple Pay will only display as a payment option if you access LivePlan through Safari on an Apple device.
When you create your new account, you can switch between your account and any companies you have contributor or guest access to. You'll also have all the features of a standard LivePlan account.

I already have a login. What's the difference between a contributor and a paid account?
Each owned or paid LivePlan account is a container for companies. Each paid LivePlan account has one account owner who functions as the administrator for the account and all the companies contained within it. Contributors are users who have been invited to an paid LivePlan account by the account owner or an authorized contributor. An account owner can be invited as a contributor to another paid account while retaining access to their account. In the case of a contributor without an paid account, a contributor invitation creates a free user-only account for that user.
The diagram below outlines some examples of contributor access: In this diagram, we have five users in total. Two account owners with 3 companies between their two accounts, as well as three contributors without their own paid accounts.
Let's review who has access to which company.
-
Account Owner 1
-
- Account Owner 1 has access to Company A and Company B: The two companies contained in their own paid LivePlan account.
-
-
Account Owner 2
-
- Account Owner 2 has access to Company C: The company contained in their own paid LivePlan account. They also have access to Company A, via a contributor invite from Account Owner 1.
-
-
Contributor 1
-
- Contributor 1 has access to Company B, via a contributor invite from Account Owner 1.
-
-
Contributor 2
-
- Contributor 2 has access to Company B, via a contributor invite from Account Owner 1. They also have access to Company C, via a contributor invite from Account Owner 2.
-
-
Contributor 3
-
- Contributor 3 does not have an active a contributor invite from either Account Owner 1 or Account Owner 2. Therefore, they do not have access to any companies. This will only occur if a contributor is invited and then later removed by the account owner.

I created my account. But I'm not seeing the right plan when I log in
If you've successfully created your new LivePlan account, but are still working in a colleague's or organization account, you can ensure you're in the correct account clicking on the Switch Accounts option in your account management menu.
If you already started a new company in your new account, you can get to the Switch Accounts menu by clicking the profile button in the lower righthand corner of of your selecting Switch accounts
I can't access the plan I previously made working in an organization account
If you previously worked with an advising organization, you may want to regain access to the plan you created while working with them. If you're still a contributor or guest in the organization account, and you see that your company has been in the Companies menu, that your company has been archived, you can request the organization to temporarily restore it to active status. However, this is at the discretion of the organization as they have limited amount of space for active accounts.
The best course of action is to follow the directions in the last section of this guide to request a plan transfer.
If you see in the Switch Account screen that you've been removed from the account you were a guest in, you will need to reach out to the account owner you were working with and ask them to temporarily add you as a contributor or guest again.
I accidentally signed up with a different email than my contributor email
LivePlan can associate each email address with only one account at a time. If you signed up for LivePlan using a different email than the login email that you used as a contributor, you won't have access to any prior data unless you're invited again as a contributor by the account owner.
If you 're wanting to start a plan transfer, you will need to reach out to the account owner you were working with and ask them to temporarily add you as a contributor or guest again to help the plan transfer process initiate. Then follow the steps in the next section of this guide.
Note: If this happened due to a misspelled email, please reach out to help@liveplan.com for assistance with your account. One of our customer advocates will be happy to walk you through updating your login email.
How do I request a plan transfer?
If you already have a business plan contained in a colleague's or an organization account, you may want to transfer that data to your new account.
A plan transfer between LivePlan accounts requires both you and the account owner of the LivePlan account that contains your business plan to submit a template that provides our team with written permission from within each account.
To start a plan transfer, please reach out to our Customer Advocacy Team and we will be happy to send you and the other account owner the permission templates that you must submit to allow the transfer of data between your accounts.
Note: To ensure a speedy transfer, it's very helpful to loop in the account owner that you're requesting a transfer from, prior to reaching out to us at help@liveplan.com
